Catching Up With Some London Images

ABOVE:  HOMELESS MAN IN CENTRAL LONDON  -  AUGUST 2017

TRAFALGAR SQUARE

Above and below are just a few pictures I took while running around Central
London during the Summer on what was a quite busy time in town. But
then it was in August, the height of the busy tourist season.
It was in fact the very day I visited the spectacular  Banqueting House in
Whitehall. I just had to go and see that Rubens painted ceiling.

I also seem to remember it being a special day. The weather was perfect
and the whole area around The Thames and Westminster was really buzzing
despite some of the recent setbacks that the Capital has endured.
I managed to watch Street performers and spoke to one or two pavement
artists. And yet I was only in Town for a whole morning happily snapping
away at everything and anything. One wonders how much photographic
images I might have accumulated had I hung around for the whole of
that happy sunny day.
It's easy to see why Central London is such a tourist magnet.

THE BIG SCAFFOLDING COVER UP WHILE THE WORK TO REPAIR IT BEGINS.
OF COURSE THE CHIMES HAVE BEEN SILENCED WHILE THE REPAIR WORKS
TAKE PLACE OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS. BUT WE'RE TOLD THAT THE
BELLS WILL ONCE AGAIN RING OUT SPECIALLY FOR THIS COMING NEW YEARS EVE.

TOURISTS, TOURISTS EVERYWHERE

BELOW:  QUITE A TALENTED TEEN MUSICIAN.
I SAW THAT HE HAD A YOUTUBE PAGE BUT FORGOT
TO TAKE NOTE OF IT.
HE WAS SINGING A GREAT STEVIE WONDER SONG.
I THOUGHT I'D THROW A TWO POUND COIN IN TO HIS
HAT. AND FOR THAT I GOT A NICE SMILE!

  1. Tut tut. Dee has been out stalking the cute tourists again. Nothing like eye candy in the northern winter to remind us that summer will be here sooner than you think. I especially like the Black and White images. Good work. - Ian

    1. Ian, Black & Whites make a nice change.

It took me a while to remember why that day was so special. You see after cancer surgery I've never really had a 100% healthy day. It's something one just has to live with. But that August day was one of those rare feel good days. I was feeling great. I was doing something I enjoy, snapping away outdoors and the sun was shining.
At the time I was thinking of making a whole day of it and going for a marathon posting, photographing as many places and people as I could. But then I got tired about 1.30 lunch time. But I went home happy.

Oh regarding the technical problems... I've got youtube back on my phone. So I'm halfway there.

  2. Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford especially a surfeit of Albanian crime gangs, radicalised motherfuckers and surveillance cameras apart from that it is still greatest city known to us.

Merry xmas, one and all x

  3. Nik, Yes I wonder what ol' Samuel Johnson would make of our great City.

Gee, I bet you got buried in that recent snow storm.

I've only just been able to see your tumblr after been locked out for weeks (Tumblr Safety Mode an all that).
Had to set up a (inactive) tumblr account.

    Merry Christmas.
